3D Modeling
During my last semester at Southern Illinois University, I took a course in Cinema4D. Although not my first introduction to 3D modeling, I found that Cinema4D was very unique in its capabilities.
Our projects consisted of a simple geometric cloud, a plastic bottle, and a modern, tech inspired landscape. The first project was focused on learning the basics of the program. The bottle project taught us about materials and more advanced modeling. The tech project focused much more on light and framing.
Compared to SolidWorks, Cinema4D was much more concerned with overall visuals as opposed to technical abilities. While both programs are impressive, they are both clearly designed for different purposes. The program consisted heavily of considering light and material. Cinema4D’s in-depth material options allow high levels of control on how the objects appear overall. This fluidity allows for an endless array of options relating to material usage and rendering.
Overall, Cinema4D is an incredible program and the knowledge I gained in my course has not only helped enhance my 3D modeling skills but my understanding of material and appearance in my general design process.
