Umbrella Project
The final project of the year, this project was focused on utilizing biomimicry, or mimicking nature, in our designs. Inspired by a time lapse of a growing sunflower, I wanted to implement the staggered growth effect of the leaves into a design for an umbrella. The idea was that the canopy would be stored within the handle and could fold out when needed. This would keep the design low profile and the canopy protected from the elements when stored away.

For this project, I took much of the skills I had put into practice with the cooler project and advanced them, with a focus on the final renders and the graphic design elements. Although I really liked my idea, I feel like it was not as flushed out as I wanted it to be. Being the last project of my busiest semester to date, I was scraping by. However, I still explored new communication techniques, especially in regards to the overall design of my presentation, and I am proud of how it looks, even if it isn’t as polished as I would have liked it to be.
