Digital Design
During my second semester, a big portion of what I learned was how to use various digital programs within the design field, particularly Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, and Solidworks. For the longest time I remember wanting to get a copy of Photoshop, but I remember the price being too high for me as a kid
Digital design programs truly give you so much freedom and flexibility when designing things. Things that normally would take hours on pen and paper can be accomplished with a single click online. Digital art programs are incredibly versatile, and having the skills to utilize them properly is vital to success in the modern industrial design field.
Showcased here are two of my projects I did during my second semester. The one above was done in Adobe Photoshop and the one on the left was done in Adobe Illustrator. The one pictured above is honestly one of my favorite things I’ve ever created. I love history, so being able to combine history with the buildings I was staying at the time made for a super fun project. I think it turned out really well despite it’s humorous nature, but I also learned a lot about Photoshop and how to use it.
I hope I can continue to take more digital art classes in the future, as I found the medium very enjoyable quite simply due to the creative freedom it allows. The possibilities are endless, and now with AI entering the field, it just streamlines the whole process even more.
